A Check-in from Down Under
Anyone who’s actually been following my blog, probably thinks that I’ve gone up in smoke at this stage; and you couldn’t be blamed for that.
It’s been about six weeks since I’ve had the time or resources to think about updating anything other than my photoblog.
If you’ve been here before, thanks for coming back to check things out. I’ve now relocated, officially, to Melbourne, Australia. It’s been a massive move for me, by far the greatest in my life. Mostly, because when I move, so does my family, and that’s a lot of pressure not to mess things up.
In another sense, it’s been huge uplifting, in a creative sense. I’d come to have an artistic practice in South Korea, and a solid and regular creative routine. It’s an aspect of life there that I miss.
Well, absolutely, the uncertainty of everything is mostly behind me. There’s nothing certain in life, naturally; but there can be those times when one has nowhere to live, and no job and above all, no sense of belonging to a place; those times can be hard to deal with. The greatest uncertainties are behind me and my family.
However, my creative future is still uncertain. I’m now working in a full-time job: something that I’ve not done for over five years. My last memory of full-time work is of it taking up most of my resources and leaving me pretty much with little or nothing to give to art. I’m hoping that I can build my routine around my art practice again (albeit in a limited sense), and in the interim, I’ve continued to update my photoblog in the hope that it will continue to keep me motivated, to think about images, and new ways to see things.
I invite you to keep checking back, and hope that I can keep things reasonably up to date and interesting, from now on.
Thanks and Happy New Year.
